General Dentistry and Practice Information FAQs

Is Belman Dental Centre currently accepting new dental patients in midtown Toronto?

Yes, Belman Dental Centre is currently welcoming new dental patients at our midtown Toronto clinic. Whether you need a routine cleaning, a comprehensive exam, or a second opinion on a restorative procedure, our team is ready to assist you.

You can easily schedule your first visit by calling our office at 416-486-1136 or by requesting an appointment directly through our website.

The Canadian Dental Association recommends that most adults and children receive a professional dental cleaning and checkup every six months. However, if you have a history of periodontal (gum) disease, a high rate of cavities, or underlying health conditions like diabetes,

Dr. Belman and Dr. Shah may recommend visiting our clinic every 3 to 4 months to maintain optimal oral health.

A regular dental cleaning removes soft plaque and hardened tartar from above the gum line, while a deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) removes bacteria and tartar from below the gum line.

Regular cleanings are preventative and typically performed every six months for patients with healthy gums. Deep cleanings are a specialized therapeutic treatment required when a patient has active gum disease or deep periodontal pockets that cannot be reached with standard brushing.

Your child should have their first dental appointment within six months of their first tooth erupting, or by their first birthday, whichever comes first.

This early “Chair Time” at Belman Dental Centre allows us to ensure that their jaws and teeth are developing correctly, gently check any new teeth, and provide parents with guidance on infant oral hygiene to help prevent future cavities.

Dental Implants and Restorative Dentistry FAQs

How much do dental implants cost in Toronto, and are there payment plans available?

The cost of a single dental implant in Toronto typically ranges from $3,000 to $6,000, depending on the complexity of your case and whether bone grafting is required. Please call us to help you break this investment down into manageable monthly payments.

The dental implant process involves three main phases: a comprehensive 3D imaging consultation, the surgical placement of the titanium implant, and the attachment of your custom permanent crown.

After the titanium post is placed in your jaw, we allow 3 to 6 months for osseointegration (where the bone fuses to the implant) before attaching the final, natural-looking tooth.

The dental implant procedure itself is not painful because the area is completely numbed with local anesthesia before we begin. To help ensure you are completely relaxed and comfortable during the surgery, Belman Dental Centre also offers nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral conscious sedation.

Most patients report that the recovery process is actually less uncomfortable than a standard tooth extraction.

Initial recovery from a tooth extraction and implant placement takes about 3 to 7 days, during which mild swelling and tenderness can be easily managed with over-the-counter pain medication.

However, the underlying bone will continue to heal and fuse with the implant over the next 3 to 6 months before it is strong enough to support your final crown.

A root canal saves a severely infected tooth by cleaning out the damaged tissue inside the root, whereas an extraction completely removes the tooth from your mouth.

Dr. Belman’s philosophy is always to save your natural tooth with a root canal whenever possible; an extraction is only recommended as a last resort when the tooth structure is too badly fractured or decayed to be repaired.

Dr. Belman brings advanced expertise to restorative dentistry through his graduation from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry and extensive, specialized training at prestigious institutions like the Misch Implant Institute, The Pankey Institute, and Spear Education.

This rigorous postgraduate education ensures he utilizes the most advanced surgical and aesthetic techniques for successful implant placement and full-mouth reconstructions.

Cosmetic Dentistry and Invisalign FAQs

How much does Invisalign cost compared to traditional braces in Toronto?

Invisalign treatment in Toronto typically costs between $3,000 and $5,000, which is very comparable to the price of traditional metal braces. The exact cost depends on the complexity of your alignment issues and how many aligner trays you will need.

Most patients start noticing visible improvements in their smile within the first 6 to 8 weeks of wearing Invisalign clear aligners. However, a complete treatment plan generally takes between 12 and 18 months. To keep your treatment on track, it is crucial that you wear your aligners for the recommended 20 to 22 hours per day.

A complete smile transformation is a customized treatment plan that combines multiple restorative and cosmetic procedures, such as dental implants, porcelain veneers, crowns, and teeth whitening, to completely rebuild the health, function, and appearance of your teeth.

Because Dr. Belman has advanced training from the Misch Implant Institute and The Pankey Institute, he can manage these complex, multi-step reconstructions entirely in-house, starting with a comprehensive 3D digital smile design.
